Neil Addison publishes guidebook through
the religious law minefield

New Bailey Chambers barrister Neil Addison has recently written a book that clarifies the complex area of racial and religious hatred and its implications for today's society. "Religious Discrimination and Hatred Law" (published by Routledge Cavendish) is the first comprehensive guide to the title subject, and explores in depth Part Two of the Equality Act and the Racial and religious Hatred Act.

In his book, Neil examines the fundamental differences between religion and race which make the operation of these new laws far more problematic than similar racial laws. It is a testimony to Neil's understanding of what he believes will increasingly become legal issues proceeding to court, with analysis of controversial issues such as the wearing of the niqab (the face veil), and the wearing of religious symbols such as a cross at work, as well as an investigation into the current status of the Blasphemy Law in Wales.
