Nigel held a National Service Commission in the Royal Engineers (Survey
Department) serving abroad. Until 1968 he practised in London in the
chambers of George Bean Q.C. (later Mr. Justice Bean) at 1 Temple Gardens.
In 1968, he moved to Bristol for family reasons and built up a considerable
civil practice (Unions and insurees) and criminal (DPP & C & E)
practice across the board.
In 1981, Nigel took silk. Since then he has continued his mixed practice
in which large criminal defence cases predominate, in the South West,
London, the North of England and the Isle of Man. He has sat as a part-time
Judge in the County Court and is a governing Bencher of the Inner Temple.
