Michael was educated at one of the nine greater public schools of New South Wales and his representative honours include five State debating championships and the NSW Schools’ tennis tour of South America.

Michael completed his pupillage with Keith Thomas in 2005 and has a strong criminal practice, both in prosecution and defence work, with particular emphasis on serious sexual offences, violent crime and drug related offences.
