John qualified initially as a solicitor from 1975, converting to the
Bar in 1991. He specialises in criminal work, particularly ‘white
collar’ crime.
He is also experienced in civil actions against the police, solicitors’ negligence
claims and all aspects of personal injury work.
He also was elected as a Borough Councillor (1987 - 1995) in
Ellesmere Port and Neston and was the Chair of the planning committee
from 1988 to 1994.
Cases:
Operation ‘Blossom’ (R v Eardley & others): a large
scale computer piracy case heard at the Old Bailey.
Weir v Chief Constable of Merseyside Police (CA): regarding the vicarious
liability of Chief Constables
Russell v Pal Pak (CA): part of the Callery v Gray appeal on Conditional
Fee Agreements.
